Free eye camp for underprivileged children at Shishu Bikash Kendro, Rayer Bazar

To ensure eye care for underprivileged children, the Eye Care Program (ECP) of Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS) organized a “School Sight Testing Program” on May 22 (Thursday) at Shishu Bikash Kendro, Rayerbazar.

The daylong event held at Shishu Bikash Kendro (Zonta Club of Dhaka Bangladesh-III) premises. During the camp Eye Care Program provided free eye screening, distribution of medicines and spectacles and awareness-building on eye health among the children. The program was financially supported by Ex-AMEX Employees Association.

The eye screening was conducted by specialist doctors from Prime Bank Eye Hospital, a partner of the Eye Care Program. A total of 100 students (35 boys and 65 girls) along with 15 teachers, staff, and club members received eye care services during the event. As part of the camp, 52 individuals were provided with free medicines, 7 students received spectacles and 15 were referred to partner hospitals for further treatment. Additionally, eye health awareness flyers and posters were distributed among the students.

Speaking about the program, the Principal of Shishu Bikash Kendro said, “This eye camp has helped many of our students identify their vision problems. The use of modern equipment and the presence of specialist doctors ensured accurate diagnosis. Moreover, it created awareness among the children about various eye conditions. I am truly delighted by such a thoughtful initiative.”

The President of Zonta Club of Dhaka Bangladesh-III added, “Proper eye care is crucial for both physical and mental development of children. We wanted to ensure that underprivileged children receive this essential health service. MSS’s Eye Care Program, with its advanced equipment and professional approach, has delivered an impressive and impactful service for these children and we deeply appreciate it.”
