About
Shishukanon- Prak Prathomik Biddyaloy ( শিশুকানন- প্রাক প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় ) is a preschool for children aged 3-5, implemented by Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS) since 2021. These schools are located in remote areas of northern Bangladesh, where we provide education to young children who are at the beginning of their learning journey. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and timulating environment where children can learn, play, and grow.
MSS believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and develop their skills, regardless of their location or background. Our experienced and qualified teachers are passionate about early childhood education and use a play-based learning approach to support children’s development in areas such as literacy, numeracy, social-emotional skills, and physical coordination.Currently, MSS is operating 25 preschools, in Rajshahi- 10, Saidpur- 5, and Thakurgaon- 10. In 2023, a total of 500 students are enrolled in 25 preschools
Background
MSS wants to make preschool education accessible to families with less financial resources in rural areas by establishing a Shishukanon in a community and providing the children with all necessary educational and play materials. The aim is to offer a range of activities that foster children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Preschool education also offers a way to disrupt the cycle of poverty by providing children with the tools they need to succeed academically and socially.
Objectives
- To enhance children’s adaptability to an academic atmosphere in Primary Education.
- To introduce the joy of learning in an organized school setting among early-aged children.
- To support a child to grow in an inclusive, healthy, and child-friendly learning environment.
- To promote children’s social emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and physical development through play and structured activities.
School Activities
We encourage 20 children of 3-5 years in each class. The class starts from 8.30 to 10.30 am with the National Anthem from Sunday to Thursday.
- Help children to learn the basics as per the preschool curriculum.
- Improve children’s health through sessions and malnutrition measurement.
- Counseling sessions for parents of SAM and MAM children about ‘daily life hygiene practices and diet’.
- Educate children and parents on ‘nutritious and healthy meals for a healthy life’ (cooking demonstration).
- We arrange inter-school Art and cultural competitions to help children grow their talents.
- Extra-curricular activities for their mental and physical growth.
Health, Hygiene and Nutrition
We ensure Health, Hygiene, and Nutrition activities in all 25 Shishukanon – Prak Prathomik Biddyaloy for children and their parents. The objectives of the activities are-
– Involve children and their parents in health, hygiene, and nutrition education.
-Educate children and their parents about different food groups and the importance of nutrition in supporting growth and well-being.
– To promote children to practice proper hand hygiene in daily life.
Health, Hygiene, and Nutrition activities include-
- Conduct different sessions on health, hygiene and nutrition using IEC materials in the classroom for children.
- Organize events on ‘preparing nutritious and healthy meals’ for children and their parents.
- Observe health, hygiene and nutrition-related international days with preschool children, teachers, parents, and community people.
- Measure the nutrition level of children using MUAC (Mid Upper Arm Circumference) tape.
- Counseling sessions for parents of SAM and MAM children about ‘daily life hygiene practices and diet’.
- Different health events for children and their parents on Health, Hygiene and Nutrition.
