The Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS) is going to organise free eye camps soon in three districts – Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, and Manikganj—for the unprivileged people under its initiative ‘Eyecare Programme’. The camps will provide all kinds of eye care services including cataract surgeries at free of cost, said a press release.
Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) will provide financial support for the camps, while Shafiuddin Ahmed Foundation(SAF) Hospital of Thakurgaon and Katrasin Eye Hospital of Manikganj will provide technical supports, it added.
The free eye treatment will be provided at Dondopal Union Parishad of Debiganj and Toria Union Parishad of Atowari under Panchagarh district on September 21 and 25 respectively. The camp will be set up at Nekmorod Union Parishad at Ranishankail in Thakurgaon on September 28, and Baniajuri Union Parishad at Ghior in Manikganj on September 29. All the camps will remain open from 10 am to 2 pm, the release reads. “Eye Care Programme continues to provide quality eye care services to the underserved people across the country targeting especially marginalised women, elderly people and children,” said MSS President Feroz M Hassan. “Nobody should remain blind due to poverty,” he added. The Eye Care Programme of the Manabik Shahajya Sangstha is working to eliminate preventable blindness among the unprivileged people in Bangladesh since 2014, the release reads.
