Background

MSS started health and population services in 1982; an integrated savings and credit program for the urban poor in 1984 which has become sustainable. MSS emphasizes social services programs to complement its credit program for the holistic development of underserved people. MSS believes that if the consciousness and capability of the poor people can be raised through education and training then it will be easier to provide them with suitable economic and social programs.

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) aspires ‘to ensure health and well-being for all’, MSS is planning to take various steps to reduce infant and maternal mortality through the social services program. The four objectives of MSS include, provide health care services; family planning; child immunization; and clinical backup.

MSS has experienced running a Mother & Child Health (MCH-FP) clinic with its fund since 1997 at Kalabagan, Dhaka to provide health services to the underserved segment of the society. Antenatal care, postnatal care, general healthcare, family planning service, EPI, vaccination, blood sugar test, and pregnancy test services were provided at the MCH-FP clinic.
