Introduced in 2005, MSS’s “Medha Bikash Uddog” (Merit Nurture Initiative) has been encouraging the children of its members to continue their studies providing them scholarships. In 2007, a total of 38 poor but meritorious students from primary to university level were awarded scholarships under this program. In 2008, a total of 38 students were awarded scholarships of which 27 from Dhaka, 6 from Bogra and 5 from Thakurgaon districts. The scholarships were provided at a simple function at the conference lounge of the national press club on August 21, 2008. The function was attended by Mr. Moshlehuddin Dhali, treasurer, MSS, Mr. A N Md. Emam Hasanth, Executive Director, MSS and other high officials of the organization. The executive director and treasurer of MSS distributed scholarships among the students. The scholarships were awarded to the new and old applicants based on their academic performances. It is seen that the scholarships awardees have been able to maintain their educational standard and interest towards education is on the rise. The students have been competent to carry on their studies at the country’s established colleges and universities.
